Topics in the Economics of Social Justice: Social Contract Lab (Seminar)

• May 9 to July 4, each Wed 14-16 hrs, HS 1009
• Sat June 23 (single session), 10-ca.18 hrs (s.t.), HS 1140 or CIP Pool KG II

           
Bereiche/Recognition:

• M.Sc. Economics: "Topics in the Economics of Social Justice: Social Contract Lab" or 2nd year seminar.
• M.Sc. VWL: "Topics in the Economics of Social Justice: Social Contract Lab" or "Volkswirtschaftspolitik”
• Diploma students: „Wirtschaftspolitik/Ordnungspolitik“ or "Wettbewerbs- und Ordnungspolitik".

Students receive 6 ECTS credit points upon successful completion of the seminar.

Topics:

1. Justice and Economics, Economic Theories of Justice, and Endogenous Approaches to Social Justice
2. Constitutional Economics and Social Contract Theory
3. Rawls and His Critics
4. Introduction to Experimental Economics
5. The Frohlich/Oppenheimer 1992 Experiment and a Critical Review
6. Criticizing Social Contract Theory

Students have to suggest a paper topic of their choice within the context of the above topics.
